Just Ordered My Xr6t!

Well, after months of procrastinating (doesn't that make you go blind??? ) over whether or not to go TURBO , I have just ordered my XR6T! :D

Details as follows:

Blueprint (yep, another one, but I love the colour!)

Premium Sound

Tint

Tow pack

Mats & spats

Boot liner

Delivery time: 2 WEEKS!!!!

Yep, that's right, they had one coming in, and it was one of my three colour choices with the basic options I wanted, so I grabbed it. My budget didn't allow leather or 18's unless I opted for the n/a XR6, so I chose the Turbo option (life's too short for regrets!) Expected around the end of August. Thanks guys for the huge amount of information (good and bad) I have gained from reading this forum - this is the most homework I have ever done before buying a car! :geek: I still haven't actually driven a T, so it will be "my first time" when I take delivery - how exciting is that going to be?? Just as well they come standard with tissues!!

Cheers,

Timbo.

timbo congrats, is it to late for premium brakes?

Thanks vik351.

I chose not to get the premium brakes because I do not believe that I should have to pay for a brake upgrade I don't need, just because Ford happen to have a problem with the standard brakes.

In normal everyday driving conditions, the standard brakes should be up to the job, but if I chose to do hillclimbs on the weekends it would have been a different story.

I am confident that a cure for the brake shudder problem is just around the corner - Ford cannot afford the bad publicity - and I would expect that any problems I may experience will be cured within the factory warranty period. If not, then I'm sure the ACCC will be very interested

Sorry for the soapbox, but IMO the owners of vehicles affected by this problem need to stand up to Ford and demand a solution.

But I'm still happpyyyy!! :D

Congrats Timbo.

I could be wrong (I'm not a laywer) but your admission above about knowing of the problem pryor to purchase could be detremental to any proceedings that are taken up with the ACCC, this is a public forum after all. ;)

Hey Timbo, Congrats.

Auto or manual?

I can't believe you haven't been given a test drive before purchase.

By the way, what's your current ride?

We'll give you some idea of what to expect in the XR6T

Timbo,

BIG ONE!!

You will be over Mars (that's a wee bit further than the moon)

You're right about the brakes, I'ts only a temporary headache as far as I'm concerned. The general performace is excellent though yes, the standard set are not really meant to be competition standard.

Not too much point in getting raised BP with the local ford people. I'm certain that a proper fix is in the pipeline. The large organisation wheel just takes a long time turning.

Be happy (and you will be so happy you'll need a change of dud's) with knowing that you're gunna be in a select club.

BTW, Welcome and you should be hearing from the big K-- soon

Mack....

Thanks Turbotom, yeah I forgot to mention, its an auto (I'm gettin' lazy in me old age!). No test drive because no demo available, but I drove the XR6 n/a and an XR8, so that gave me a fair indication :)

My current ride is a Jackaroo 4wd V6. Doesn't go too badly for a truck, but methinks I will find a tad more acceleration in the T! :innocent: Might find those bush tracks a bit of a challenge, though!!
