is it better to replace the intank pump or add a external pump to help the stock intank pump? not talking about a surge tank setup just adding a external pump. this is for a sedan.

An external, say an 044 will support more power (600-650hp at the fly), but a good, equally rated intank pump will do the same.

Intank is quieter, runs cooler... but doesnt fix the surge problem they get at under 1/2 tank.

Reliabliity on some aftermarket intanks can be a little hit and miss due to the fuel line conections on the pump, search around and get the correct fuel hose fitting and it should be reliable.

if you are going to do the surge tank then dont need to do the intank, its only purpose is to fill the surge tank

rhys I am pretty sure Process Wests is a 1.5L surge tank.

You are right that there is a big difference, but the fact is that in a sedan with +300rwkw a surge tank should be a required item, It does not take alot to get fuel surge and leaving your pistons sticking out the bottom of the block is slightly more expensive then a good surge tank and 044
