RED DNA New Member 2 Member For: 18y 3m 19d Posted 16/12/08 03:02 AM Posted 16/12/08 03:02 AM I've a BF and stock ZF6 speed, had anyone tried to put higher diff ratio for better acceleration for this ZF?Which workshop in Melbourne would do this stuff - tried and proven reliable by anyone of you guy?I would prefer some ratio between 2.9~ to 3.1 ( I dont know the exact numbers) however, fuel wise is still my 1st priorityI just want a better acceleration than stock diff ratio. and if with new diff, who can recalibrate the speedo? my tuner or ford service?is it hassle-free to fix up the speedo with the new diff ratio?Cheers
senna_T Forged Member Legacy Donating Member 15,818 Member For: 19y 7m 21d Gender: Male Location: SW Sydney Posted 16/12/08 04:00 AM Posted 16/12/08 04:00 AM The diff ratio shouldnt effect your speedo, the speed sensors are on the hubs if I remember correctly.You have to remember that 1st gear in the ZF is very short, and a shorter ratio is going to make it just about useless.Best bet would be to get a tune if you haven't already, would be cheaper than changing diff ratios and there is a good chance your fuel economy will be better

They can tighten shift points and if you like that kind of thing they can make it churp at every aggressive gear change etc...My ZF6 changes gear heaps harder since the tune
