December 7, 200817 yr #1 Hi Guy,Just wondering if anybody out there can identify this usb adaptor (brand or model #??) I need one for my other car and the only place that sells them is wolfems at $99.95ea..... so i m hoping somebody out there in the know can find on a tad cheapercheersLukeEdit: i have tried many other usb/serial adaptors and haven't been able to get them to work. Wolfems say this is the only one that'l work with the software (hence the $100 price tag i spose......)
December 14, 200817 yr #2 looks like a usb to dvi cable, just had a quick look on ebay and that looks like the going rate
December 14, 200817 yr #4 I bought one at CPL for around $30. It was quite a while ago but. http://www.cpl.net.au/
December 16, 200817 yr #5 I dunno what brand that one is, but I share your frustration.I have been trying a lot of USB-Serial adaptors lately too - for programming PLCs etc at work. They are a PITA.Dick Smith sells Belkin (around $85). Jaycar sell 2 brands (one ~$35, other ~$60).On the range of work laptops we have, I can only get about 25% to run the adaptors properly and connect without bugs. I can't recommend any brand or variety. They say they are running (when I check the device manager) but they don't connect with the PLC. Drives me nuts. Belkin has a download on their web page with newer drivers which I'm going to try out soon!BTW some of the Toshiba Tecra series laptops have built in serial ports - that is the way to go for me in the long run. The adaptors seem to flakey to depend on in the field.regardsJohn K
December 16, 200817 yr #6 sorry manho, I checked with all my wholesalers and they only had dodgy ones which probabyl wouldnt work anyway!I think ya gonna have to fork out a lettuce (or two pineapples) for the Wolfems one
January 23, 200917 yr #7 Looks like a dontronics usb to serial adapter to me. Aten branded adapters also seem to work well.
