I live in Blackwater, Central Qld, and we had a rip-snorter tear through here on Thursday evening. Fair few houses without a roof here now, including one on my street that is apparently going to be a total write off because of the damage inside. I had a bit of damage, none to the cars or bike thankfully, few smashed windows, palm trees snapped in half, some other minor damage, but came out a bit better than alot around here, we were declared the 13th disaster zone in queenlsand on friday....lucky 13... There was hail in my yard that was around the size of two tennis balls put together, and the winds were up around the 190-200km/hr mark apparently. Lost my power for about 18-19hours.

Then this afternoon a bladder at the top of our wier broke, swept a few away. I've heard through the grapevine that a 3-4year old girl was one of the people still missing, and that is the daughter of a woman I know....terrible stuff.... http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/local/5165795...-missing-water/

Mate I hope they find her, she must be terrified.

The pics above were in my girlfreinds street(one of the worst) 7 houses lost roofs, including hers.

I don't think they will find her alive, that bladder held an additional 10000 megalitres, so the force of water bursting over the weir would have been huge. They were all standing on the crossing on the lower side of the weir, which is about 60-70metres from the wall. Still waiting to hear some updates.

That was a shocker, and the water board have essentially ruled out failure of the bladder and are suggesting vandalism. That is seriously f*cked up.
