Hi guys,

Since my intercooler install, where I had to bend the a/c line dramatically which made a small crack in the join of the line and the condensor, I had put on J.B weld putty on the crack .. but not sure if it will 100% hold..

now I'm looking for a place to refill it so I can have my air con back..

do they need to remove the intercooler and take off the front bar etc to refill the condensor..

and has any1 else had to do it here in melbourne..

?

I dont think I could take it to ford because they wouldn't be able to replace the condesor since I need one with the bent line etc etc..

so im not really sure what my options are and I would like to get my aircon workin sometime soon =]

I know of one place ill find out the addy, but to get that aircon line fixed is a massive job, they have to pull the cooler, radiator etc it will be $$$ my friend, not sure on the re gasing price wise.

no a/c place will regas it with putty on the condensor its illegal and we all face huge fines now, not just the business but personally 2. as all a/c repairrers have to be licenced. u can take the condensor out and have the crack welded that way it will be bent in the right amount. to do a condensor and filter, orofice tube(filter and tube have to be done by law) I charge about 550 s+f and regased. as now every system has to have the filter replaced after it has been "opened" gone r the days of a 100 buk regas, u will be lucky to get out of it for under 250 plus repairs to condensor. UNLESS u find some shonky place that is willing to regas it, DONT let anyone regas your car with any other than Tetraflurocarbon 134( R134) as the seals in the compressor will not stand to other refrigerants and will leak eventually( they will perish) bbq gas and r12, er12 or hychill is NOt an option in your system. the compressor is a nippon denso v5 pump and the hi lo temp differential is crucial to its life, the only refrigerant that offers the correct specs is R134 :) just some info to consider, get it done propper mate, im just thinking of u in the long run ull be much better off than a cheap regas :)

mike ya forgot to say that 34m is also a safe gas to use in automotive systems it is a little easier to work with then r134a - especially if the system has had a leak and lost all its gas - if a a/c place does a regas without replacing the filter they should be shot anyway - quickest way to destroying the comp and blocking the sh*t outta the system

well yes and no I am trade qualified but havent done it persay for a little while now - maybe they have stopped making it now??? used to get it through heatcraft was good sh*t used to replace r12 directly without an oil change and it didnt mater if ya had an old system with a new comp no oil compatabilty probs

yeah enquire next time ya at heatcraft - its not a well known gas but it is as safe as r134a I dunno why it never really took off - maybe cos it is distributed by origin so its not one of the big boys gases :freak:
