Replacement Of Oem Tyres

I much prefer the look of the 18's...hence worth the extra initial upfront fee plus the ongoing price for the tyres...its only an opinion folks

has anyone purchased new tyres for 17s or 18s of late, have prices dropped or risen since this thread was last replied to?

Bout the same I saw an artical where they did some testing and Handkook have on which is much better than the Falken at about the same price Round $340 265 40 18

I priced tyres this week.

I have had SP9000's on std 17" rims and have found them to be brilliant tyres. They are worn out on the inside edge after 33,000k's.

I have recently upgraded to 18" wheels that will be needing rubber soon.

245/40/zr18 SP 9000 tyres can be bought for $515 (quote from Blair's Tyres Peakhurst Sydney).

The SP3000 is not made as an 18".

The Falken tyres are $250 ish and were recomened by Blair's.

I have yet to make my decision....

I 90% sure that $250 was for the 18's.

However, I have been known to be wrong....once.

For those with the 17s, Bob Jane are advertising the SP3000 235/45/17 at about $230. No price on the 9000 though. The 9000 is the Dunlop 'flagship' tyre and the 3000 as already stated is the next one down the list and seems pretty good on my T. Previously used Yokohamas on the C'dore (539?) and they were impressively quiet and grippy.

I think you'll find the the Dunlops are dear tyres because some of the models are fully imported and get shagged by the import tax and the exchange rate. When we priced new Dunlops for the SSS Pulsar they wanted over $270 for a 15" 195 tyre. At the time I was informed that it was because they are imported tyres.

I don't want to sound like a tight @rse, but these prices are exactly why I opted for the 17" deal and not the 18s.

Abso-&%&)$ing-lutely. After having to price up the SP9000's on the previous car and going for something a bit cheaper, the 18's weren't even an option on this car!

I got new tyres on the 8/05.

235/45R17 Dunlop SP3000's for $259/tyre at Kew (Melbourne) Beaurepaires.

took them for a fast run on Kew boulevarde the other night...and damn they grip! (compared to the dunlop le mans)

$555 fitted & balanced. But none in stock, none in Newcastle, none in Sydney (at least available to this tyre mob), but container load on the docks. Said probable be 10 days before they would be available!

Not much chop when ya got 2 rooted tyres!

Anyone looked at Kumo KU19's. Only $350 in my part of Oz.

gee that's not a bad price. But even still 555 a tyre sure is a lot of cash.
