Can anyone tell me if the FG XR6 T's are running the "old' 270kw FPV versions of the engine and what has changed on the new FPV 310kw version of the engine

wellcome but I have no idea.

It's not the same engine, it's got a smaller turbo, different exhaust and a new intake manifold, maybe even a slightly higher compression ratio if I'm not mistaken.

In relation to FG XR6T to FG F6, more boost, lower compression....that's where my knowledge ends, someone will be along with some more useful info soon.

New head design as well.

New block casting with different engine mount positions.

All plumbing, intake and exhaust and intercooler.

ECU mapping is different as well.

If you do a search you'll find all the info your after.

Same bottom end though right? Isn't that why FoMoCo pulled all the BF II bottom ends off the shelf?? Just in case there was a problem with FG's...

#6

Not sure on the bottom ends. Haven't seen anything written anywhere about it.

I would doubt they'd pull BF gear off the shelf if FG components are having issues. They'd still be making excess components as parts, I would have thought.

That's just the explanation I heard as to why there was a shortage to BF F6 bottom ends all of a sudden when the FG's were released :spoton:

That would make sense considering the new F6 has different internals to the old one.

Billet conrods and forged pistons have been reported as standard fare in the new F6 also.

Conrods are the same as FG XRT, but pistons are different, they have a slightly larger dish in the crown to bring compression down, and they have a stronger gudgeon pin. They aren't forged though, but are stronger than whats fitted to XR.

that's just crap, the bottom ends are different so it makes no sense. The reason they ran out of BF short blocks is due to not anticipating the demand for them from people who have blown up the standard BA bottom end and want something stronger.
