I get diff clunk in mine going from nuetral to drive, sometimes worse than others

You will need to isolate whether it is in the diff or half shafts. Diff will be fixable, half shafts may be a problem.

Well there ya go, I'm new to the site and there's a piece of interesting info... Mines the same bugger thought I was going mad.

find the right balance on the clutch and you should get no clunk....I don't anyway...but I can make it clunk if I want to hehe :D

It is a combination of diff and half shafts - the utes don't suffer the problem as they have a beam axle and less than half the splines in the driveline. The autos have it but the transmission masks the symptoms most of the time while actually driving, so you will only get the clunk when engaging drive from neutral or park.

And a little of somewhere in between. I have seen one XR6T sedan that was all in the diff, and one XR8 that was all in the half shafts.

Is there any difference between the XR & GT diff in regard to one being more heavy duty?

The Turbo diff is the same heavy duty one used in the XR8 - presumably the GT. The atmo diff is the standard unit.
