Pinpoint Test I: LFC 22 and 23 / DTC B2295 — Restraint System Side Airbag Module

Status

Normal Operation

The restraints control module (RCM) checks all side airbag module circuits for faults. If the RCM detects one

of the following faults on any of the side airbag module circuits, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC)

B2295 in memory and flash, depending on the fault, either lamp fault code (LFC) 22 or 23 (or higher priority

code if one exists) on the airbag indicator.

Fault Conditions

The RCM monitors for the following fault conditions:

low resistance.

circuit open.

circuit short to voltage.

circuit short to ground.

Possible Causes

A side airbag module status fault can be caused by:

damaged wiring, terminals, or connectors.

a faulty side airbag module.

faulted RCM.

I'm all for helping people out but unless you have had proper training you should leave anything to do with air bags alone I've seen what happens to novices who think they can fix air bag systems and they've ended up in hospital after setting the air bags off, I work at ford it most like is what the others have told you (connections plugs etc) but unless you you know and understand how the system works and what would happen to you if your too close to to the airbag when and if it goes off then take it to ford or a auto sparky who has been trained.

definatly dont go probing with a test light or multimeter

these systems only need the smallest voltage to deploy.

good on ya niel for looking out for these guys

Thanks for your advices. Since it's not good to play around with the airbag system. I'm better to bring my car to the garage to fix it. Do you think the guys at Ultra Tune would be able to fix it or I have to bring it to a electrical specialist garage (which one is cheaper?). I don't want to bring my car to a Ford Dealer as they're so expensive (last time they charged my $2,600 for a service with a few minor problems).

Can anyone tell me roughly how much does it cost to fix the faulty airbag code 23 so I can prepare money before my next service is due.

Thanks

check the plugs under the passanger seat first. Air bags aint that ezy to set off unless you start probing with test lights and the like. Just check the plugs it is the most common fult.

I had this same problem,

My tuner scanned it and turned out to be the crash sensor in the front bar had a bad earth, bit rusty between the sensor and body.

Bit of sandpaper to fix, all good now

Thanks guys! I followed Tree Monkey, which is checked the plugs under the passenger seat and pushed it in a bit. My warning light has gone off and I suppose my airbag work normally again (is it correct that if no airbag warning light is on while driving means it's working fine?).

Thanks again for saving me lot of hassles and money to bring my car to the garage to fix it. Really good advices I found in this forum.

sounds like great help, good work tree monkey.

if the light is off the system will work correctly, but it might be worth getting someone to erase the code for you, so if you have problems again you dont get mislead by this code, itb will be stored in the memory til erased.

Wow, this thread just saved me a trip to Ford! I had exactly the same issue, same flashing sequence and all. Looked under my passenger seat and wow, someone had stuck a magazine under it and slightly loosened the cable. Pressed down on it slightly and restarted the car, and viola, no warning light. Must admit I was very nervous around thinking of dealing with airbags as I've heard the horror stories... Big thanks guys!!!
