04/10/08 03:34 PM04/10/08 03:34 PM #1 Guys...Am I going mad or what ? I have had the 05 XR6T Mk2 for a month or so but have come across a problem. During the week, I had a towbar fitted and wired but since we have had it done, the car seems to be lacking power. I know it sounds crazy, but is there anyway that one of the installers could have done something that has caused this power drop. It just isn't pinging like it was beforehand...can someone come up with an idea ...I am sure it is not my imagination! Thx guys.
04/10/08 03:50 PM04/10/08 03:50 PM #2 how heavy is a towbar? maybe its the added weight that is just duling it a little (the same thing happens when you have a passenger in the car.. its not as quick as sans-passenger)
04/10/08 10:53 PM04/10/08 10:53 PM #3 Bad ground possibly? I know a few cars have experienced power loss with bad grounds...
04/10/08 11:54 PM04/10/08 11:54 PM #4 It's a fairly straight-forward install though electrical wise isn't it? Can’t really see how anyone could f*ck that up...but stranger things have happened I guess!
06/10/08 03:59 AM06/10/08 03:59 AM #5 Author Further to my post above...we have just found out what the problem is and to say I am fu#$ed off is an understatement. I dropped the car off to get the Towbar fitted and as I stated , once I picked the car up it was going like sh*t...I thought that it must have been an electrical problem or something...just found out today that one of the "apprentices" took the car to "pick up" some stuff for the boss as my car was parked in front of others. That was nice...but it gets better ! The car was low on juice so the snotty nosed 18 year old (who shouldn't have been in the thing anyway! ) goes to the servo and puts in $10 worth of (get this) Ethanol petrol! No wonder the car was going like sh*t! If this car motor is screwed because of this stupidity I am likely to cause WW3. Any advice apart from taking the boss and his helper out the back and giving them a hiding....that is a joke. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else...Robbo

06/10/08 04:23 AM06/10/08 04:23 AM #7 that's farkin stupid man, did you get told this buy the boss or someone else?
06/10/08 04:32 AM06/10/08 04:32 AM #8 Fark Do you know exactly what fuel it was? It should be alright if it was just an ethanol blend, just get some decent fuel through the tank ASAP if you haven't already.Free towbar installation would be in order I reckon.
06/10/08 04:41 AM06/10/08 04:41 AM #9 Author The boss admitted it to me and has just got off the phone to me. I have to admit, he has been pretty good about it and will be paying for the towbar and any problems that have incurred because of what the little snotty nose did. Trust me, the young bloke will be in some strife in the morning, that I can assure you. It proves how stupid he is...I wouldn't have admitted to anything ! I filled it straight up with 98 and you can already tell the difference. I just hope that no damage has been done.
