Spark Plug Question

Hey guys, new to the forums, been checkin them out lookin for ideas for a while now, this is my first post.

Car is an 05 XR6 Turbo, 6spd manual, in velocity, (sedan)

Current engine mods are k&n panel filter lol

Planning to do secondary CAI next, the goal is to get around 275rwkw safely on stock clutch

The question is what spark plugs are recommended as I've been told by a mechanic that I usually trust that I don't necessarily need to go to a colder plug and a smaller gap as most posts suggest on here. Also if I were to go to a colder plug with a smaller gap would I be able to install these myself and drive it to a tuner to get tuned?

And does anyone know a good tuner who works with the CAPA flash tuners in perth? GTI Performance Centre has been recommended to me.

Once you start cranking the boost up you will need to gap your plugs. You can do it without a tune.

hey, welcome to the site.. yes the plugs are pretty easy to put in. but I wouldt worry about plugs just yet until u get a custom tune on the way.

Thanks for the quick replys guys, So your saying that it should be ok to get tuned on the stock plugs?

Reason I'm asking is that I would like to put the plugs in myself following the guide on these forums, so I dont wanna go to get it tuned and then have a problem with tuning it due to the wrong plugs being in.

You might want to consider upgrading that before you tune it.

Ok Hanra, that was my intention, however will it be okay to install those before the tune and for how long before the tune? Will the plugs foul on the stock tune? And will the car run okay with those plugs on the stock tune?

Mine ran fine for almost 12mths with those plugs until I got round to getting a tune. Why not just leave it until the week prior to getting tuned if your worried? Its a pretty simple/quick job.

Ok that sounds like a plan then. So you think hoping for the stock clutch to hold 275rwkw is a bit too high of an expectation? I really only want to be putting out enough power to be safe on the stock clutch, wat would you recommend is a safer figure?

The Clutch in these cars suck! I fryed the clutch in my N/A BA 03 and the one in the T is almost stuffed after 13,000k's and only 265rw/kW... ! I really should be nicer to my cars
