HI everyone

Just after your thoughts and opinions. Currently I have a BA MK2 turbo ute(late 04 but first registered 05) and have recently been looking at the BA MK2 typhoons. Would it be a worthwhile upgrade? or will the value of the typhoons continue to drop considerably? As for modifying the typhoon, I'd only be looking at 330 or so rwKw. that's pretty safe in a BA typhoon isn't it?

Also, typhoon owners; what is insurance like on an FPV? who insures them?

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys/girls

Mate do an online quote with one of the majors on a phoon and this should give you an idea re $$.

With the phoon youll get PBR premium brakes standard and you may be lucky enough to get one with brembos.

Motor is stronger so you should be right with bigger power

hey mate

personally I would not upgrade from a BA T to a BA phoon..... what I would do though upgrade from the BA T to BF phoon. why?

firstly you will only get the manual in the BA's... these cars had clutch issues and who knows when yours will fail and your up for a new clutch.....secondly, they are all coming to the end of their warranties...thirdly you have all the good bits already bought for your current T, with those you could build your T so that many phoons would not even come close to it.

heres another thought... why not upgrade to a BF T that has a few more goodies then your T does now and maybe have a year or so of manufacturers warranty left?

edit: u maybe lucky enough to get one with a upgraded clutch though!!

If you can stretch the budget then a BF Phoon would be a better option, but either way a worthwhile upgrade. They do feel like two different cars. Insurance will jump up another 50% or more so check it out with your insurer before you make the purchase, its different for everyone.

So I have been looking round; now just thinking BF2 turbo or late model BF T. Insurance will be affordable! I'm only really wanting the stronger bottom end, BA typhoon was comparable in price that's all.

Wheres all the manual BF's? can only find auto's, for those that have them, how good are the ZF6 speeds?

The reason you can only find Autos is because the ZF is such an awsome gearbox.

They suit the turbo, by keeping the boost between the gearchanges and make them dam quick.

I went from a BA 5sp XR6T to the BF ZP F6 and have never looked back. I took a $17k bath on the negative equity, but it was worth it.

If the only reason you want to move is the bottom end, then getting the motor rebuilt is far cheaper than replacing the car.
