Ghosti NOT THERE!... THERE! Member 852 Member For: 17y 1m 17d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 05/07/08 09:13 AM Share Posted 05/07/08 09:13 AM (edited) I've had the opportunity to drive the Golf Diesel, the GTi and the R32 for work.Gotta say, the R32 is DEFINITELY the pick of the bunch if you can afford it. The thing is the absolute definition of a pocket rocket. The DSG is just simply too good to ignore. Probably the nicest gearbox of any car I've driven to date.Something interesting to note is, we had a Golf GT on a dyno and found that it made roughly the same power as VW quoted for the GTi. We thought it was probably a freak car so we got hold of a second GT and put that on the same dyno... with similar results. The only conclusion we could come to is that VW is deliberately underquoting the power figures for the GT in order to sell more GTi's. I mean if it was my money I'd still buy a GTi as it feels so much snappier and worlds better to drive, it's also clearly a nicer package all around but in terms of bare bones power figures there's really not much in it. Depends on your priorities I s'pose.Cheers.
