Sure dynos read different, measure different, gearing is different ect ect.

But what I see to be the biggest deciding factor on midrange power (torque) is tuning.

Boost control and timing, how boost is brought in through the lower rpm, and how timing is set have a huge impact on how much power the car will make at 3000-4000, and torque is just calcualted from power as mentioned above.

Some cars have tame timing through the midrange then really shine on full boost, others have a very strong midrange, where power peaks at full boost then levels out to max rpm.

This is why a good tuner-customer relationship should be looked for, this way you can speak with your tuner and let them know how you like the power and any changes that you may want done after the tune.

Tuning plays a very large role in torque and how it is used and abused.

that just explains how to measure it, not the way the figure varies. If I read it wrong, I'm an idiot...
