Asked him if he could hook me up with a 'under the counter' deal for a new typhoon clutch kit and he said he could. but he said there is no difference in the clutch, its just a different pressure plate or something?even though hes in spare parts, I think he may not know about it and hes pulling it off the top of his head.. cause from wat ive heard the typhoon clutch is a twin plate?any comments or thoughts would be appreciated!he can get it for $2300.. I think they retail for around $3500-$4000 genuine from ford? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/45447-difference-in-clutchs/ Share on other sites

On the other hand the F6 clutch is very good, and is designed to handle lots of power. They have a very light feel and the take up point is very high up the pedal throw and makes changing gears a pleasure.I have around 390rwkw and a standard AP racing (F6) clutch is more than up to the task. If it shows signs of slipping, cerametallic plates and a billet flywheel can always be installed and then it's bullet proof. There's a few 500+rwkw cars going around with this setup.$2300 sounds like a reasonable price. They are a quality unit. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/45447-difference-in-clutchs/#findComment-675043 Share on other sites

Is it possible to buy the cerametalic plates for the AP clutch in Aus? I wouldn't imagine that Ford would sell them, that's all. You can pull the clutch out (slowly) on a gradient and it won't stall lol Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/45447-difference-in-clutchs/#findComment-675046 Share on other sites

I dont know about being light my clutch is quite heavy.
