Throttle Acceleration System Fault Light When Driving?

I posted this on another ford site and got some info thought id also post it here see if I can get some more ideas.

was having a drive on Thursday night went down the high way had my foot down in 4th gear and got the Throttle Acceleration System Fault Indicator light come on the dash so a backed off the throttle checked the engine grabbed my Owners Manual and had a look book says it only comes on then there is a fault.

went easy as I got into boost about 4000 to 5000 revs it came on the car was not missing a beat so I keeped testing ware it was coming on was it was any ware from 4g to 5g it would come on mind you I never went over 5g revs. turned the car off for a while and did the test again. the light was coming on now and again but not all the time.

so went home and got on the net read some diff things. then went out Friday out of town for a drive did the same thing and it was gone I though o well maybe the computer was just telling me playing up. the whole day driving don't a problem get in the car Saturday and hit boost at about 3g revs and it came on?

has anyone had this problem and if so how did they fix it I herd you can get a new sensor at $600 I also herd cleaning the throttle and reseting the ECU fixes this as well. id also like to note the car does not lose any form of revs or go it still goes the same but the light comes on. also now and again it is missing I believe I need new plugs im not shore if this can mess the sensor up cheers.

I have this same problem and have had it for over 12 months.

It's anoying but doesn't seem to be causing any problems. I have changed the Throttle Position Sensor, removed / cleaned Throttle Body and replaced the O2 sensor.

It may be the coil packs in my case, I have had it tuned 2 or 3 times and had the ECU reset but problem is still there.

Good luck with it mate keep me posted !

Cheers alf

I have same problem, change tps, coils, cleaned throttle body out of the car, changed the O2 sensor and still there. I have been told its the pps (pedal positioning sensor. I have had this for over 12 months too no problem to dat but it a headache. Mine comes on everytime I hit the pedal meaning any rpm and everytime I hit the pedal wether it half or full throttle..

Mine is the same as yours Pete. It doesn't seem to be causing any damage its just irratating because we want to fix all the nigly faults with our cars.

The TPS was $170 is the PPS the same price? I don't want to replace it if that's not the problem, spending money for nothing is anoying! Fuel pump is something that I didn't think of
