Howdy,

What is the general cost most people are paying for a basic service with full synthetic oil being used?

I'm getting quotes in the $400 region... They are doing the service + re-torquing bolts + full snyth oil... am I being bent over?

Cheers

I had a Ford service last week, cost $900 but I had quite a bit done.

-Full 75,000km service

-Front discs machines

-Brake and Radiator fluid drained and replaced

-Plastic stone guard under the front bumper replaced

-Handbrake adjustents

and so on.

Ford (Nuford in Wangara) quoted me $485 to do the 12,500km service and they would provide the oil. Rang up a few other places and they ranged from 150-300.

I use Ultratune at Joondalup as its owned by a good mates (also my mechanic for last 3/4years) old man. I buy my own oil and I ended up paying less than $200.

As long as you find a good mechanic you TRUST, it shouldnt be too $$

I do my own servicing so wouldn't know what the going rate is, but I do know that with $400, you can buy yourself a decent torque wrench, oil and filter, do it all yourself and have change left over. I only have an EA Falcon, so obviously not fussed about losing market value due to no service history, but makes me wonder how much value does service history add to a car? and how does this compare to the savings gained by doing it all yourself?

I agree with you.. I always wonder weather its worth it paying a mechanic $300 plus to do a service just so I can have the service history book stamped!!! I mean most of the work you can do your self at home...

I got my car at 13,500ks, drove it back to sydney and it was due for the 15k.... The dude at Macarthur Ford (Campbelltown, sydneys deep south) said a normal service costs about $330, and that things always need re-tightening due to the expanding and contracting of the hot bits...

they severly borked my wheel alignment somehow.... took it back and told them it was munted and they fixed it...

Gave em a second chance at the 25k service and they didnt mess it up...

Actually... when I was toying around with CAI's I noticed some ford trained idiot put the air filter in backwardly.

It clearly has front written on it with a freakin forward pointing arrow =====>

I am getting my car serviced at Nizpro on Monday. 90000k service.

Standard charge is $380 but I will see how it goes and if that blows out.

Let you know how I go.
