Which company would be best to do a full inspection/whether it's been a repairable writeoff/cleared of any outstaning debt/roadtest/phone report on the car? In South Australia we have the RAA. Who would be best in Victoria?2. What's the best way to transfer the money over to the seller? I'm planning to fly out Saturday morning and drive it home asap. Are banks open on Saturdays in Victoria?3. Any other general advice from people who have pruchased cars from interstate or general advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you get the SIDO number, Ford or Senna T may tell you what warranty items have been done to the car and the service history. With the money, just get a bank cheque and take it with you. Saves sending the money and the bloke running off. You could always pay a deposit direct into his bank account to show you are serious. If there is money owing, you want to make sure the money is getting paid off the loan though. When getting it back to SA, you will need to take it to Regency for a numbers check. I had to recently with an RS2000 that I brought from WA. Whilst they will usually only check the VIN number and engine number match to the car, they will defect you if there are obvious mods that could be unroadworthy. They didn't like the tinting on the RS and I had to go out into the carpark and peel it off the front windows before they gave me the nod. There was other things I could have been done for like no anti polution gear, noise etc but the guy who checked out mine liked the old RS's and the originality/condition of mine so I think he turned a blind eye. If the car is relatively stock, you should have no problems.Watch out for the coppers on the drive back, the temptation of boost is hard to resist at times.

What I'm worried about is how quick the cheque can be cleared/verified. I want to be in and driving off within an hour or two so it's important that the money can be transferred over very quick (preferably with a phone hotline?)

teeg Member 372 Member For: 21y 2m 9d Location: SA Posted 07/01/08 06:10 AM Posted 07/01/08 06:10 AM Bank cheque is as good as cash, the seller when banking shouldn't be subject to clearance days and as ETM says, you can't cancel it. All real estate transactions are completed by bank cheque.
