P.S I like small revvy engines, they're fun, but I also like big torque cruising up hills.

Sorry about that, I'll now factor weight into the equation.

1969 Dodge, 1900kg (4000 lbs) lot of weight to move around. Great at high speed, the weight adds stability but I'll have to make sure the SIX adult passengers can be seated in comfort with their elbows unable to touchh each other.

Now add in the 440 cubic inch (7.2 litres) with the standard bore and stroke. Engine dyno'd to perfection by a specialist engine builder (Kim Baker of Baker Precision engines) and chassis dyno's to give 320 kw (420 hp) at the rear wheels.

Now with the weight factored in the thing will STILL run a quarter in the 13's with a 3.23 final drive (good for over 150mph)

Drop the rear down to 4.11's and 11's are a possibility.

The most amount of fuel and air in the combustion chamber makes the largest explosion possible thus increasing the downward force on the piston etc etc

It's not a day to day car, it is not economy friendly but it does the job and it is built by Americans!

How hard would it go if I put twin turbo's and fuel injection on it? For a simple example have a look at the Horsepower Heroes at last years Nationals....... a small block Expensive Daewoo 308 with twin turbo's with over 1300 horsepower. I don't see too many SR20's, RB26DETT's etc doing this

Blown and injected Chrysler Hemi's are still putting out the 3 to 4000 horsepower. That engine in a rail or a doorslammer and there's you power to weight ratio.

Not what you're after?

XR6Turbo. Seats 5 adults, stops, goes, looks great and is an easy fix to 290 - 300kW with a bit of sensible engineering. Much better prospect than a 200SX, WRX etc etc yawn yawn

I reckon the 200sx is one of the best all round perfomance cars and bfyb on the market ....

drove one for 4 years and loved it ... an absolute pleasure to drive ...

awesome cars like the wrx evos and soarers etc etc are all great cars to drive and modify .... they are all fantastic and they are all very much different from each other (viva-la-difference)

IMO opinion the XRT is going to change large cars of the future ...

it is the 21st century and sorry to say that brute power is great but from the dark ages.... (my V8 is brutal :D )

the Japanese and Europeans have been making smart cars with the current technology for a long time now

...now (at long last) the XRT has joined their ranks ... smart move Ford.. :biggun:

Too true Bez! Motor, 'box and diff are all big, strong and reliable but hey we're talking a car that is over 30 years old and it is not a patch on a modern car like the XR6T as far as comfort and dynamics go.

It is purely a weekend toy for fun at the races (in a straight line.....I'm not THAT brave to go around corners in it LOL)
