Diff Clunk

Featured Replies

Hey guys

A few weeks back I busted the LHS diff input shaft and had it replaced. While they were at it, they changed the diff bush as well because it was f*cked.

Now my car feels like sh*t. It has always changed hard (kewish auto & line pressure), but now every time it changes, mostly from 1 to 2, it clunks hard as f*ck.

Anybody know how to fix it? Im thinking of reducing the line pressures anyway, I want the ride to be smooth again. Im going to go to XTC for a retune soon anyway cos I have f*ck all power down low and I want it to be smoother.

Any help??

Well if it didn't do it before the CV and diff bush were replaced it would point to something not being right there rather than in the auto.

my auto is also built by kewish and does the exact same thing! :spoton: but don't stress, line pressure adjustment can fix this.

The clunking in the ass end has began to get progressivly worse. Its giving me that 'treading on eggshells' feeling. I dropped paste HPF today and they agree something is definatly wrong under there, so im dropping it in tomorrow.

My wallet is already scared....

They pulled it all apart and saw that the rhs bushes were f*ck. Replaced them and it made it better but didnt stop it.

Seems that when I busted the input shaft a few weeks back it managed to bend the crossmember. Ouch. Whats making the noise is the diff hitting the bent part. Im not exactly sure what they are on about so ill lift it when I can and take a look. Just the part is 1400 bucksfrom ford. Double Ouch.

Oh well...

They said that it wont cause anymore damage the way it is so if I can live with it for a while it should be sweet. Maybe after christmas.

Might start looking for a cheap IRS from wreckers then....

f*ck ford.
