Recently I've been getting a loud clunking noise from the front end of my T.

It only ever happen's when reversing & turning at the same time, ie backing into my driveway.

My mechanic reckons its the lower ball joints & if I replace them the clunk will disappear forever, I'm not so sure.

Anyone got any ideas? It seems to be getting worse & is really starting to give me the sh$ts.

Cheers guys.

Has your car had the TIB done to shim the steering rack? I'd start there if it hasnt

I haven't done anything to the front end while I've owned it. Is it a recall job?

does the noise seem to come from the rh front? mine makes the same noise if it does.

RH front does seem to be noisier than the left

Your mechanic is 100% correct. I had same thing. Dealer could not locate it. Neither did the guy who fitted my Whitelines. Failed a Warrant of Fitness and they found the problem. Lower BJ on left hand side.

Cheers

Mine had the same noise. The Ford fix to shim the steering rack did the trick.

The mean technical service bulliten or TSB. Ford released a TSB on the steering creek as owners were having so many problems. Its a warranty job so take it to your friendly ford dealer
