Windows Xp Start Up Password

Anyone know how to remove this so that when pc boots up it just goes to desktop without having to put my password in....

Are you using XP Pro or XP Home?

The crude and simple way is by changing registry settings:

Or if you're not comfortable with that you can install Powertoys (if you don't have it) and use the Tweak UI program:

There are settings within XP to do this.

I have XP Pro on my Carputer and the password thing was annoying the crap out of me when it came out of hibernation. There's a check box in power options/settings (whatever it is) that fixed all my problems. There's also some settings in user accounts to do with users logging on.

Hey mate

Click START, RUN and type "control userpasswords2" and press enter.

Click once on your username.

Uncheck the "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

Click "Apply"

Windows will prompt you to enter your current password twice. Do this, then click OK. You're all done!

I seriously wouldn't recommend doing that though for any internet-connected PC, it's much safer to setup the auto-login to a user level account rather than using only an admin account....each to their own though I guess
