So is your problem axle tramp, or just wheelspin?

If it's wheelspin you definitely have to get a LSD.

If it's tramp then a good set of shocks will go a long way to fixing it.

Remember that as a general rule the more grip the tyre has, and the stiffer the springs, then the stronger rebound you need to apply to your shocks. This means an adjustable style shock like the Konis are going to be your best option.

Also with an auto it is important to stall it up on the line while you're waiting for the lights because it get some rear squat happening - putting some weight onto the rear before you leave the line. The main thing that causes tramp is the sudden rebound of the spring after it has been shock-loaded into compression as you floor it. Take some of this shock-loading away and you alleviate some of the tendency for tramp.

The brakes were another issue. My hi stall converter could not be loaded up correctly as my new brakes are bendix fibre pads.I used to have metal pads which allowed me to stall harder. The car was moving forward before lighting up the tyres on several occasions.

For axle tramp what shocks are good?

Well a couple of people have already mentioned Konis in this thread - maybe there's a clue in there somewhere.

Try using the handbrake to help get it up on stall speed, that's what I do but mines a standard converter

That is a very very good point.Using the hanbrake to stall the car would have the back springs preloaded to launch. In effect it should launch faster.that's a good idea I like that.By the next time out I will get better brakes for the rear and give it a go.

This is the most helpfull post .Thanks man.I believe that I have eliminated all of the axle hop and spring recoil now.the car just goes forward. So much enrgy was being absorbed into the springs. They are crap. But not any more.muahaha
