I just bought a GPS system for the car and still working the thing out. So far its fairly straight forward. Anyone got any thoughts on these things, I didint really know much about the thing, just bought what was recomended, a Navman F20. What sold me was the fact it lights up blue alongside the dashboard. So for all I know, ive probably bought the cheapest crapiest brand and model, but it still looks good and suits the car.

Is it the end of street directories??

I.B.

Funny you should bring it up.....

went looking at gps units today, came away with a desire to get a Tomtom GO710, mainly due to the fact it looks neat with no buttons, being all touch screen, and the fact its also a bluetooth compatible handsfree unit too.....

just gotta convince the missus I need it now, and not in a few months at bday time

I have had a Garmin Streetpilot C320 for about 2 years and it is still great.

Just a warning, make sure you remove it from sight including the base as thieves love to steal them.

Zap, how have you gone with updating maps??

is the cost expensive, or is there somewhere to get them for free, not that I'd steal maps off the web or anything

Yeah ive heard that this is beccoming a real problem. Ive heard that groups of crooks go looking round the carparks and beaches for them in cars and then knock them off. Its sounds like the days of cd players in your cars and detachable face plates to combat the theft of them. :spoton:

Last week I bought a Mio P550 PDA with in-built GPS. Primary use will be GPS, but I liked the fact that I can run multiple navigation application on in plus the fact it is a PDA with WiFi and Bluetooth also has its perks.

So far MioMap and TomTom and works a treat.

Main reason for getting was for the Euro trip in a couple of months :spoton:

Garmin Nuvi here as well, very happy with it.

The bluetooth is a great feature as you can even call the POI directly from the Nuvi as most have the phone number stored.

Excellent for picking up the take away on the way home from work, you can even tell them exactly what time you will be there to pick it up. :spoton:
