June 6, 200719 yr #1 I am due to change the brakes on my 03 T and am looking at a couple of options.I had the original front rotors changed under warranty at 66K due to consistent shudder (no complaints there) but Ford's new pad that "fix" the shudder have torn through the new rotors and left me with an inch thick worth of brake dust. Aftermarket it is then..My first option is to replace the standard rotors with the equivalent sized DBA4000 slotted & new pads. Second option is to replace the standard rotors with the BF equivalent sized DBA4000's but I think this will also require a caliper change.Does anyone have any experience comparing the BF and BA brake setup? Is the additional cost of going to the BF setup worth it? I've read a few threads on which is the best all round pad but there seems to be a heap of different opinions. Happy to hear a few more before I end up asking DBA for their opinion.Thanks.

They are from Furn Gulley Tree Autos.I have DBA 4000 rotors on mine with ferodo pads but will be changing them soon with QFM pads. The Ferodo has seen 2 track days and still powering on but a little too much dust for me.CheersAdrian.

The Ferntree Gully rotors are RDA brand which are cheap arse ones. Depepends on how you drive I suppose, DBA 4000 may be overkill if you don't plan on doing track days or repeated heavy braking. As for pad choice that seems to depend as well on your driving style and also personal preference. You ask five different people and you will get five different answers as to which ones are the "best".
June 6, 200719 yr #4 Do you do any track work? If not, have you considered the DBA standard slotted instead of the 4000 series? A cheaper option, I guess.I have upgraded my BA to BF brakes and it was certainly a worthwhile investment. Having said that, I paid stuff all for them so it was always going to be worth it. I don't really drive the car hard and did it more for the looks than anything. I have noticed a fair difference in the effectiveness of the braking. I am only running the standard Ford rotors and pads at the moment and when it comes time to replace the rotors I will get some DBA standard slotted.
June 7, 200719 yr #5 Author Anyone have an estimate on what the BA-BF brake upgrade would cost?I don't do track work so maybe the standard slotted would be sufficient. As usual, it all comes down to the dollar.
June 7, 200719 yr #7 Author whole bf brake kit is 650, not too sure on fitting costs though. Is that for genuine Ford BF discs or aftermarket? What does the "kit" include? Thanks.
June 7, 200719 yr #8 that's with slotted rda disks, ford pads and calipers.. not too sure whether lines are included but at a guess not.
June 7, 200719 yr #9 I put the DBA 4000 slotted ones on mine, with metalic pads last saturday... drove round most of the arvo bedding them in, took it to Wakefield track on monday and f*cked them in 6 laps. They are alot better than the stockers for general street driving, but constant hard braking requires bigger brakes
June 7, 200719 yr #10 When you say F*****d them, do you mean they need replacing, or they faded?Scotty
