Does anyone know why a lot of XR5 turbos are being delivered with manual rear windows? The brochure indicates that it is all power but the 3 I have seen at the dealer have manual rear.

Yep, mis-builds from the Factory. There is a $1000 rebate for people that have ordered theirs and it has turned up with manual windows. Having said that, you can have power windows installed using genuine parts for about $1k too.

Apparently Ford have now agreed to rectify the situation and have them retrofitted.

Nice long thread on it over at fordxr5turbo.com but we had to move it to a provate area of the forum as the customer service team were monitoring it

BTW it would costs alot more to get the power windows put in (genuine parts) if you were to fit the bill:

Approx 4 - 5k, so if can get one with all power windows to avoid all the issues and hassle.

Else get much bigger discount than the crappie $1k being offered by Ford else you will be out of pocket.

They used to have that setup in the base level Falcons. Do they still?

Actually mate, the bill for fitting the rear power windows to one of these cars is $1048 inc GST. That is using genuine parts too.

Where did you get $4-5k from? The $1000 is for customer inconvenience, as they were mis-built. That is why there are a few around dealerships ATM, cause people that ordered them are pulling out.

Any further discounting is between the customer and dealer.

Incorrect mate. In order to achieve Global Close there are a host of other bits (inc ECU I think) that have to be upgraded. If you want all the gory details rego on FordXR5Turbo.com and I'll give you access to the thread. :roflmbo:
