I want my car to make that dose/flutter noise, and from what I've seen and read you need a pod filter to make that noise happen (well louder anyway) but im just concered about the pod filter sucking in hot air from the engine

The only benefit the aftermarket panel filters give you is that they are reusable, any power gain is offset by a decrease in filtration. stock filters flow quite well any way.

Pod filters work very well but they must be shielded from engine bay heat other wise they are worse than useless and cost u power.

Try feeding the intake pipe to a pod filter in the wheel well

:hiwelcome: sorry to steal your thread here......but 72, your saying an aftermarket panel filter makes no performance gains whatsoever??? how do people who buy these justify there purchase, or....how do you justify your claim??

was considering this item as my next purchase, so would be interested in some opinions on this.

to get good 'dose' you have to sacrafice performance..

for the best 'dose' slap a pod filter on the end of your turbo and get rid of the bov. not recommended but. with more boost it will make a louder flutter from your bov. check the vlt forums for very indepth discussion on dose hahaha

I have a panel filter but apparently the ford paper items are good. k&n just means you dont have to keep replacing them.

Look up the multitude of threads on 2nd cold air intake for a cheap but effective way to get more airflow, and possible slightly more flutter sound.

SS Inductions make a Pod-in-a-box option called the 'Growler'. Advantages of this is you have a pod filter, in an air box shelted from engine heat, with a lager intake simular to the 'phoon/XR 8 setup.

If that doesn't float your boat, go the 2'nd intake option. Get the XR8 one, because if you ask for the Typhoon one it'll cost you $$ due to the fact it has FPV on it!!!

I have a SS Inductions 'Big Mouth' kit which is a bigger snorkle and a K&N Panel filter myself, and found that it does the trick, and a Edit will go a long way to more noise as the Turbo will be working harder making more Kw so on. My Edit has my T running 259 rwKw on 98 RON with standard internals, and it sounds great as the Turbo spools up and carrys on...

All the best mate.

Matt.

Thanks for the advice everyone, im probably gonna go with the panel filter, just wondering how much is the "big mouth" snorkel to fit a bf, and how much for the second intake? (xr8/fpv)

also if anyone could tell me where would be the best place to look for these items it would be greatly appreciated.

thankyou.
