We decided not to use Mal's one for Brians so I'm sure if you get on to BCL he could sell you his one.

We are currently looking at casting a stronger rear housing with increased oil capacity, for guys like XLNT6, BCL, GOGO and a small run for export.

Thanks nizpro, My friend Christian aka RLQUIK would probably be interesed. He was also interested in some tougher drive shafts too. You guys did a nice job on his car I had a quick drive felt very torquey and usable on the street.

SDWAYS, I have had the exact thing happen to me, broke the bushes 4 times now and have broken the diff cover once.

from what I understand of whats happening (not much) it is not so much the cassing that is the problem but the bushes that collapse and then introduce freeplay in the area, 3 things could break, the bolts, the bushes or the cassing (or as what happened to me all 3)

I have been meaning to get stronger bushes in my rear for a while but havn't gotten around to it just yet your the only other person I have heard of that has broken a cover so thought there would be nothing available....

Nizpro how long till your housing will be available? and will it be for Nizpro customers only (ala CV joints) or will you be willing to sell it seperatly.

what was it about the Mal Woods housing that you didn like? was it just the volume of oil or was it the design/strength? As I only plan on running 300rwkw I am seriously considering this option now that I know it is out there.

yet another question what bushes (as this is where I think my real problem is) are available for the diff mount?

Just a side thort on the matter. If the housing is made out of steel idealy (or cast iron more work) Why would you get the standered housing reworked to take some spherical roller bearings or allike?? I have a full workshop and would help some body out if they are game :crybaby: . I am not going to do it to my car only becourse of haveing a ute and do not have that problem.

I had asked Mal about a stronger diff cover for fitment in Melbourne.

Mal supplied me with one, but I had thought that the rear cradle would have been dropped when the cv's were fitted; but that was not the case, so the diff cover was not fitted. Nizpro want to try a very different design, which is not just about strengthening, but the way the diff cover is attached to the cradle.

It's not my call to say which will be the better, as different companies have different views.

I broke the bolt to the diff cover only 2 months ago, and had a new diff cover fitted by Ford in Sydney. The cost of labour alone is over $400, as it's a big job to drop the cradle. Already I have the problem of drivetrain shunt back, so the same problem is likely to happen again very soon if ignored.

I broke a rear cover also, stripped the thread, and thrashed the bush out.

driver abuse? what a load of wank, its a sh!t design is all.. there was word of a better bush coming out but never heard anything more on it. im pretty sure the bush is the root of the problem. the ba mk II bush is better than the standard ba one btw

BTW I paid 550 @ ford for replacement cover, bush and bolt and fitting.. got some quotes as high as 1k though!!

That does make sense to me.

Once the bush is partially broken you get shunt, then it's a matter of time before the diff bolt or cover breaks due to the backwards pressure on the diff. I notice it worst when I'm going slightly downhill in say 5th or 6th at around 60kph.

Well it makes sense that when the bush is gone the wear it transferred to the bolt/housing. I will at least put the nolothane bush in and most likeley the reinforced housing and high tensile longer bolt. Herrod have the bush I hear so hopefully it all goes together. It seems just like a tie rod end in thoey. Small play at first then gradually more and more as it wears intil it just drops/snaps off. Maybe some sort of a rosejoint setup or something I don/t know exactly. I am a panel beater by trade, If ist broke I hit it, heat it or bog it up!!! :crybaby:
