I have been at power cruise today chewing up a few cars but the tranny goes into limp mode from heat. Has anyone done a trans cooler for the 6 speed. I had a look on the hoist and there is 2 plastic lines and a heat sink attached to the block any sugestions?

They run a factory cooler, I think its water to oil, maybe look at getting a bigger one, or a air to oil?

Iv'e been told that if you add a trans cooler you'll change the line pressure and the box goes into limp home mode.

maybe fitting a larger one will reverse the problem and sort it out lol

surely theres gotta be sum1 whos tinkered with these boxes by now.. even a transcooler could make these so much better becuase I cant see them lasting behind some of these near 400kw phoons around now!

The software is the problem, it can dectect a pressure drop and shuts itself down.

The 40th anniversary GT has an upgraded auto trans cooler, it will probably also come with the R spec handling package for track work. This is one option to look at when it becomes available.

Why would pressure drop?

If the unit is topped up with trans fluid to fill the extra volume and unless there are major reatrictions I don't see why pressure would drop even if it's going through a longer distance.
