February 27, 200719 yr #1 I’m in the process of increasing my power levels to 280-300rwkw, I do not plan to exceed 300+rwkw and am curious as to what clutch options other members have used with a 5 speed manual. I spoke to Mal wood who recommended his option 2 clutch, a 10.5'' H/P clutch kit which features a Ceramic / Metallic clutch plate, which will hold the power however I have been advised that this clutch can shudder. What other clutch alternatives should I consider?Cheers,
February 27, 200719 yr #2 I've got the option two in my car, and it holds the power really well It was installed by a shop in canberra, and initially it was terrible.. it was really hard to select 1st and Reverse, and the shudder was unbearable. My mate re-bled and clutch fluid and we put some new stuff in it, and from then it was almost 90% better. I've basically got used to the shudder now, and I rarely have a big one.. usually just a slight shudder, some times none at all. One thing you'll have to be wary of is the gearbox. I don't drive my car very hard for fear of f*cking the gearbox, as I don't want to put a T56 in it.. I'll probably only keep the car another year or two, so I'm better off trying to keep this one alive.

February 28, 200719 yr #5 I had a Xtreme cerametalic (similar to option 2) in mine and it shuddered like It does get better as it wears in and you get used to driving with it but there will always be a little shudder there. I think you should consider an organic clutch unless your prepared to put up with an annoying shudder every time you take off. Also, I'd start saving for a new box because there's only a few guys who are running that sort of power who haven't destroyed their T5. Sorry to say but the odds are against you, especially if you like to put the boot into it!
February 28, 200719 yr #6 I'm running an extreme HD organic clutch in my T5. No shudder at all, smooth as take up and only slightly heavier pedal feel. Holding 312rwkw pretty well although I think on warm days it slips a tiny bit. The good thing about an organic clutch is that its a weak point between your power and the gearbox. Might help to prolong the time it take for your T5 to break! Are you in Sydney? I live in Manly, happy to let you have a spin and feel what the clutch is like if you want.
February 28, 200719 yr #7 Author Thank you for your offer but I’m in Brisbane. Out of curiosity how much did you pay for that particular clutch?Cheers, Edited February 28, 200719 yr by Dagabond
