Another thing to remember is that overtightening the wheel nuts can cause problems.

I think dbasteve has touched on this, but if you just do the wheels up F T (second word here is Tight) you can have issues. Important to torque the wheels up in a star pattern, and I have heard (correct me if I am wrong) that 135Nm is about right. Think torque wrench.

Currently I have dba slotted rotors and bendix ultimate pads, after having the permanent fix from ford go to shudder in a day.

No shudder yet (hasnt been long though), but the improvement in braking from the pads is worth the money on its own.

Hi Guys

Have been watching this issue with concern, my "baby" was due for delivery (ex factory) tomorrow but (the dealer says) its been delayed for 10-14days because of brake components......checked with Ford Customer Service & they say they are fitting new brake callipers (from now on) .....note sure if this is the first sign of acceptance "at last" (by Ford) or Im been fed BS..... any suggestions ?

Make sure if possible mate to post a picture of the caliper as soon as you get your new toy.

What is your new toy consisting of mate?.Options etc.

They better be making s--t loads of these new calipers mate as you and I and everybody with a current T or standard Falcon will have there hands up for the warranty job.

Do you have any insight into this at all?.You must at some stage be wondering yourself what is going to happen to rectify this problem with Ford of course trying to minimise the cost to themselves.Your discs are surely not the problem as I have found out myself.Regarding the caliper design do you think having the duel pistons on 1 side is abit old hat design.I am on the thinking that a 4 piston caliper working from both sides surely would be a better design but this is your job and your the man so thoughts or comments please.

Not being mechanically minded or have intimate knowledge of how cars are built.....but....if Ford are actually fitting new brake callipers to my vehicle....would this generate a new part number.... ???? ...this would allow us to confirm their actions ....not that I ever doubted them (much)

Just the look of the the caliper will confirm a upgrade mate.Hope your got a digital camera to post pics.

Got the Ford 'fix'. 2 days now and so far so good. My only complaint so far is that now I have a longer pedal as, when you apply the brake, you effectively need to take up the gap that now exists between the pads and the rotors. Definitely a dodgy fix, but one I guess I'll have to get used to. I mentioned the longer pedal etc to the dealer and he said that he received that 'feedback' (otherwise known as complaint) from several who have had it done.

I too look forward with great interest to seeing these new calipers.

I don't know about you guys, but it is not ideal, although it is nice, that every service advisor on the front desk at the dealer says hello to you by name when you come in (some even remember my rego!!).
