Well Guys,This is obviousilly going to be a major problem with all our cars concerning disc warpage.I for one are not going to continually go back to the dealer to have my Discs machined over and over so they look like a devin slice in 6 months time. All the dealers are machineing the discs, which have to done on the car to eliminate flange runout but who says they have this equipment.I know of at least 3 major ones in Sydney that dont and wonder if they are even in a position to diagonose these problems. You know what is going to be there fix and it will be cheap and nasty and probley only last maybe a year so maybe if we all put in a order for some good DBA or other brand discs it might be cost effective. The thought of spending 50k on a car with s--t brakes pi--es me off.Would of bought a VX if I wanted this problem.

Its really wrong, Ford say they are working on it. In the mean time are telling dealers to machine and replace as necessary for the 100,000 warranty period. DBA found a solution in a couple of months, do you still honestly think ford are working on a solution for this?? (For their next model maybe!)Does the warranty reset every time the discs are replaced?? Just how long can it take to source quality rotors?

8000km and NO problems. I believe that "only a small number" of rotors are affected by the problem some members are experiencing. Ford are apparently working on it. IMO - I'd wait a while before spending YOUR money. Let Ford spend theirs for now and hopefully they will find a permenant fix for you soon.

ASNU> What leads you to make the claim that Ford (or their dealers) will machine the discs over and over again?

Fact is, as I understand it, is that the discs will only need machining once.

I really think you may be exagerrating here just a little and, as has been stated by others, not all cars exhibit the problem.

That said, however, I do know how frustrating it is to have a problem on your $50k car - I have one also on a $60k car which has been ongoing now for over 12 months. Ford haven't yet said to me that they can't or won't fix it so until they do I am just being cool, as cool as I can under the circumstances, and letting them "waste" their money on makeshift solutions that don't work. However before the warranty expires I will insist on a fix or a definite NO - then I'll fix it myself and send them the bill. I reckon after showing 3 years of patience a court (if it comes to that) would be leaning towards my favour, so all I can suggest to you, if your problem is a recurring one, is to try this approach...

T6Man.

Fact is I have disc warpage problems a 9000K as a lot of people chatting or commenting on this problem. When the car was new the problem was not there but occurred over 2-3 months. The machineing of the disc is a quick fix just to send you on your way and will be back very soon I am sure. They,The service dept is to try and keep you happy and will continue to machine until there is not enough metal to recutt then maybe you will get new rotors supplied and we get on the merry go round again. Why would a machine cut on your discs cure this problem for good?.

I thought I would of been luckie as well not having my oil breather pipe pop off when starting and filling my engine bay full of smoke but hey it happened on the weekend.

I sell into all these dealers and no what sort of things they try and get up to,Even had the same problems when I was a apprentice trying to fix brake shudder and warpage problems. There is no quick fix mate and I am sure everybodys car will have the same hassle. This problem is not induced by certain types of driving or peoples driving techniques or habits.

My car was done, the dealer apparently had someone come in the the equipment to do it, 1000k's later they seem fine but when I apply the brake from 80ks plus they a noisy u really hear the pad and disk working.

The other day I was on the freeway and I had to brake quickly because a goose cut in front of me, the brakes felt like there was a very small amount of shudder time will tell.

I have a little over 5000k's on my car now, disks where machine before 3000k's
