May 20, 200323 yr #1 Has anyone noticed a whistle that occurs at about 2000 rpm?It is linked to engine speed not road speed.Sounds a bit like a turbo whistle, maybe Ford fitted the turbo at the last service.. :D
May 20, 200323 yr #2 AAAAArrrrrrrhhhhhhhh its that lovely induction noise. Turn off the radio and try it at 5500rpm sounds even better!!! Always sounds better on cold days to.
May 20, 200323 yr #3 yeah I love the whistle...I reckon it loads up best in 3rd and 4th gears and when I change gears I get a cool, noticeable flutter if I change at the right revs...
May 20, 200323 yr #4 Um, I think the na in XR6na = naturally aspirated = no turbo. Some engines get that whistley sound, my eb 5litre had it . Maybe its something to do with the accessories belt, dunno.

May 21, 200323 yr #6 I get a whistle/buzzing noise that sounds like it's coming through the radio, however it happens even if the radio is off. Ford tell me it's the Turbo, but the noise sounds electricalYou can hear it best if it's quite, or on the freewayanyone else?

I've heard the same thing - noticed it with the radio on but the volume down. It's not the turbo spooling. As far as I'm concerned its electrical interference from the engine.
May 22, 200323 yr #9 The whistle your hearing is from the radio aerial ampifier! It only seems to do it when engine revs are high with or without the radio on! In a ute the noise will come from the left hand rearmost pilar and in a sedan it will come from the left hand corner of the dash. There was Ithread on here about it a while back. I'll try and find it. No fix at this stage!
