Hey guys

Yestaday I went for a drive and thought I give it a little squirt so I

push the gear stick over to PEF Mode and booted it and I heard a

loud grinding noise from underneith it would only do it from 3rd to 4th

so I put it back in drive and was all fine.

So I put it back in PEF Mode to see if it happends again and it

did it 3rd to 4th the same as the frist time a loud grinding noise

I dunno if it the gearboxs mabye on it way out???

it only did it 2 times and keep driving and it was fine so I dunno

what it could be.

Do you reckon mabye the gearboxs is on it's way out?

its a 03 model with 110,000kms on the clock.

Were you changing gears yourself? Because if you just push it to the left it won't go above 3rd.

There is really nothing mechanical which can make a grinding noise in these boxes, unless you really have some serious broken teeth, in which case it will do it in "D" as well.

What you are hearing is probably hydraulic "groaning" from either the valve body or the converter.

In either case, you need to think about getting your box fixed.
