May 19, 200323 yr #1 The reason I have been in a BA XT all last week is that my XR6T has had a new engine fitted after breaking a valve spring in Canberra. The car was being washed in Braddon when I restarted it it idled rerally badly. I drove it over the road into Gregorys Ford.I was lucky in that I new Barry the Service Manager. They had some great FPV guys there and they took the Cam cover off and found the problem. the valve srping broke simp,e as that. This happened at 4:30 PM last Thursday week. By 5PM I was in a rent a car supplied by Ford. The next morning ford confirned they would repelce the engine without any prompting by me. The engine inc turbo arrived on Monday of lasdt week and it was finished on Wednesday. The car was put on transporter and sent back to Torque Ford where it was detailed and checked today.I would like to thank Ford publically for their professional dealing of this matter for me. I now get to run it in again.I believe this to be an isolated componment failure. Well done to Barry and the team at Gregorys in Canberra. They did a great job.
May 19, 200323 yr #3 What a dealership! mine probably would've blamed me and bin spewin they had to replace a spring. Glad to see some decent dealerships still around.
May 19, 200323 yr #4 Not sure how isolated this is - I've heard about four happening now but this is the only story with any substance. Why did they replace the motor? Did it drop a valve and damage the piston?
May 19, 200323 yr #5 Bad news guys!!! I don't believe it is isolated. I heard a rumor that a few over here have had valve springs go. Makes ya think why they fixed it without hassel huh. I think Ford know of this weakness and will fix it without question. Just like the auto windows and the BEM probs and the............ Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Every persian rug has its faults!!!!
