Cheer's guys, your input has been very favourable. Why are swaybar's $500-$600 on these things? They are just bent bits of spring steel? Mine cost me $185ea and fitted them myself in around 30mins. They have 4 levels of adjustability as well! The swaybar mounts on the subies have a habit of breaking if they aren't updgraded (couple of welded in bits of steel soon fixes them) do the falcons have the same problems?

Is a front sway the bar upgraded first? We did the rears first on the WRX as this gives the car a more balanced attitude at the rear as well as tightening turn in and helping reduce the understeer that plagues WRX's. I would have thought that understeer would be an issue with most factory car's, whats the go with the Fords? Definately looking at a Typhoon having read around the Forum here a bit now.

Mate you are right on the money for sway bars, they are under the two hundred dollar mark each, and can be fitted yourself, if you are confident.

As for which sway bar to fit first I cannot help you. I just decided on changing both. Though buy all accounts dont make the rear to tight as this may cause the car to lift the inside rear wheel.

Hi and welcome..

I also went from a wrx to a an xr6t. whislt its a totally different package it is thoroughly enjoybale to drive.

You can get the T into the 11's for $3-4K (auto)...manuals are slower unless you shift cogs as fast as F6 UTE :spoton:

I believe sway bars are around the $200 dollar mark :fool:

If dollars allow get the F6... if not get the T and throw a small amount of money into it :nono:

Sorry mate, my post was a little unclear. My $500-600 guestimate was for springs AND front sway bar, fitted. Lower/stiffer springs can be had for around the $200 mark, fitting would be about the same again, and a front sway bar is indeed only about $130 (and you can fit yourself). Hope that clears it up. :spoton:

hi mate.

its not hard to stiffen the ride in these cars up.. my dad is happier drivin my xr6 with a rear swaybar than his liberty 3.0rb!

rekons it feels more direct and flatter through the corners, and that is with poor tyres too..

alot of others only have front sway bars and are as happy with them as I am with mine  ~$250

For the BA-BF Fords, the Whiteline adjustable swaybars have two adjustment holes. As stated, you dont want the rear end too stiff or you could lift the inside rear wheel when going 10/10ths round a corner.

The standard swaybars are 24mm front, 19mm rear. In about 10 hours, I'm getting whiteline adjustable 27mm front and 22mm rear swaybars fitted, as well as Bilsteins all round. The plan is to have both bars set on the softer setting, maybe moving the front bar only to the stiffer setting depending on how it feels.

For a fair review of Bilstein action on an F6 sedan, check out blackpigs review here:
