The Proxes T1R is probably about as good as u can get to fit an 18 or 19” rim.

MT Street Radials are the go but the closest size is a 17” so you need Rims.

Stick great on the road and the track but aquaplane something horrific in the wet . And don’t last to long.

When I had the manual Tornado I changed out the dunlops for Yokahamas 255/35/18 but they were too small in the OD and down the ¼ you either have to let it hit the limiter in 4th or pull 5th which cost a heap of time.

At present with the auto Tornado I’m driving around on the 17" MT Street radials and its great (in the dry) but they chop out so fast.

I have just bought two T1R’s which Ill be testing today and went for the 255/40ZR19

OD=27” Width=10.2” @ 770 revolutions per klm.

They cost more than the Proxes 4’s but by all reports stick a lot better.

The 255/40ZR19 cost me $450 each

The 275/35ZR18 is for a 9” 10” or 11” rim (but will squeeze on)

OD=25.6”

Width= 10.7

813 Revolutions per Klm

U get a bit more width (allbeit deformed) but lose the height u want if u have a manual.

Just make sure he is talking Proxes T1R's and not Proxes 4's

From memory, you can leagally go up one size. (Cro can you confirm this)

I've fitted 255/40/18's on mine.

Hmm, I can name quite a few tyres better than the Proxes. Would be about my 5th choice at best. Even in the Wheels big tyre test they were average, finishing well down the list. Wet traction was not in the same class as tyres like the Eagle GS-D3 F1 (best wet weather tyre), Dunlop Sport Maxx, Michelin PS2, Yokohama Advan.

Have you driven 5 tyres better than the Toyo T1-R, have you seen what 3 laps of a track do to Eagle F1's?? Dunlop Sport Maxx are brand new out afaik?? And he has back to backed Advans.

Make sure you're comparing Proxes T1-R, not the other in the series too.. They ( T1-R ) are a soft compound 'track' tyre, so obvioulsly they will have wet weather sacrafices, but it's coming into summer, and we need grip..

Dunlop Sport Maxx have been out for at least 4 months, as that's how long I've had mine. Didn't realize this was for track work. If so there are other choices.
