It came with a key which you could plug into the siren and turn to put it onto silent so it doesn't chirp. I guess it's for if you get home late, not to wake people up. Have you given this ago?

There is no key for the factory alarm al la AU - it is activated by the BEM and the BEM is unable to make the bloody alarm chirp as there is a problem with the master BEM program software - an upgrade is coming but who knows when???
