well mark webber has confirmed he is leaving williams for red bull...

I commend him for leaving the sorry excuse for a race teram that williams have been this year, but red bull?

his manager is flavio briatore, flavio briatore is the team manager for renault, renault have an open seat for next year, next year theres a good chance renault will still be defending champions!...

and to top that off, fishingkella is going to be renault number one next year... did you see his performance in hungary... good luck renault.

mark has been in a good position more than once this year to finish on the poidum, stopped by a reliabilty level of a lada (or any car made in the uK), but old square-jaw has only been able to get one podium (in monaco, not a typical track), so the red bull aint much better.

mark, me thinks youve gone sideways, not up.

God I get mad sometimes.

Um ok let’s try and clear some things up. Firstly Mark Webber is really an unsung hero for this country and a lot of Australiana’s don’t really understand how well he represents this county in F1. Yes it is time to leave Williams they have not been able to keep up with the finical demands of F1 this season and have clearly illustrated just how difficult it is in F1 these days with out the support of a highly funded manufacture behind you. Red-Bull is not such a bad option for Mark Webber, what people need to understand is to be successful in F1 you need a level of continuity in a team. Now Mark knows all the staffs at Red-Bull. (Formally Jaguar racing) He would need to learn the name of 300 new staff at Renault if he had a chance to drive there this would be a set back. Adrian Newey is now the new chief chassis and aerodynamicist at Red-Bull racing, for those who don’t know much about Adrian his cars won 6 out of 10 of the constructor titles from 1990 to 2000 with Williams and Mclaren and the 2007 car will be a 100% brand new Adrian built car. At this stage Red-Bull have got a Ferrier engine deal that in my opinion will be extended but a very strong deal with Renault has been in the pipe line for months now in case things fall through. Mark would have good support from David Coulthard more so than if he was partnered with Giancarlo Fisichella as I feel that David is much more experienced and consistent. I really believe that Renault will have a tough year next season although the car is fast they have had a great driver in it the last few seasons, but lets not forget that Kimi won 7 racers in 2005 the same as Alonso, and the Mclaren, (Adrian Newey built) really was the faster car with Kimi’s bad luck loosing him the championship. Flavio has made it perfectly clear that he wants Kimi as a first option at Renault and if I were Mark I would not be happy devaluing my services to a 2nd option driver and having to wait around for some guy to make up his mind about something, and me just hanging around like a piece of meat looking desperate, old and expired. Truth is Red-Bull have money, a solid B-team for testing, and don’t forget they also own Toro Roso which is a big development project for Red-Bull. So before everyone starts say Marks a looser and he is finished maybe they should just look a little out side the square for a minute and try THINKING about things like a real F1 fan would!

I think Mark has made the right discission signing with Red-Bull people should put faith in his abilities to make the right discissions after all what the hell do we know about one of the most complex sports on earth.

This now all makes sense.....Red Bull for next year want to sign a deal with Renault to supply engines for them for the 2007 season but the Ferrari deal does not finish until the end of 2007.

As a comprimise, they might offload the Ferrari engines to Toro Rosso and Red Bull take on the Renault. That would mean that Flavio has made this deal and included Webber as part of the package.

sounds like flavio is a bit of a shifty character

It's more than likely that Kimi will actually go to Ferrari next year and the vacant Renault seat to Heikki Kovalainen, who is their current test driver and VERY quick.

If that's the scenario, then Red Bull is a very good option for Mark.

- He knows most of the team

- Red Bull have lots of cash as well as a development team.

- They will have a works engine and a Newey designed chassis

- Flavio probably got Mark more money from red Bull than he would have been prepared to pay for Mark's services at Renault

- He will have a decent, experienced racer to to keep him honest.
