17/07/06 07:45 AM17/07/06 07:45 AM #1 Does anyone know where I can get a rim fixed. I have a rim that has been slightly damaged but it is causing a vibration in the car. The back-left wheel is slightly out of round (I've been told this by a tyre dealer and Ford dealer). I've lready had to replace one rim because of this and now I have another. I don't drive up and doen gutters and I try to avoid potholes.Ford want $500+ for a nre rim, the las one I replaced was second hand for $250, but I though getting them fixed, is possible, might be cheaper.Does anyone know of a repairer in Melbourne. Thanks

20/07/06 06:58 AM20/07/06 06:58 AM #8 What sort of prices are people paying? I'm planning on getting mine done too (but I'm in Canberra) and just wanted a rough benchmark price to make sure I'm not getting taken for a ride.
20/07/06 10:54 AM20/07/06 10:54 AM #9 I paid $60 to have one re rolled ( had a bump on the rear of the wheel ) so it didn't need to be re-coated. At Heidelberg WestThen had gutter marks fixed on the Fusions $150 had to be lathed and re-coated at Moorabbin. They did a great job!
21/07/06 07:53 AM21/07/06 07:53 AM #10 Author Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help.I had two wheels re-rolled at Neway in Heidelberg. Great job, very friendly service. They even took a wheel off the car and put my spare on after I had it re-rolled.Total cost to have two rim re-rolled, $154 inc GST. A bargain I reckon compared to $530-odd for a new rim from Ford and $250-odd for second-hands from a wrecker.I must also acknowledge the great service I have had from Beaurepaires in Kew...fantastic service and sometimes they have done a few things for no charge to help me out and to find out the true cause of my car's vibrations. Finally, I can't believe how easy these rim's get buckled. I make sure I never hit gutters, I try to avoid potholes and don't remember ever hitting anything that would have bent two rims, but that's what had happened...both rims on passenger's side buckled about the same amount.Anyway, I'm not a non-vibrating traveller. Now just to get that damn diff whine fixed for the third time (working on that with Ford and dealer). Thanks again all.
