Very glad to hear you and your partner are OK mate. that's a big shunt and I can only imagine how scary it would have been at the time.

Daniel, after spending time with yourself and your beautiful T mate all I can say is that I am very happy you are not seriously injured. Mate the T can be replaced, just thank god you were able to walk away from it.

I wish yourself and your wife a speedy recovery, just glad your boys were'nt with you at the time.

OK let me get this strait, Cruise set, TC on, accelerator depressed slightly as you were overtaking. A slippery patch of road. W

What I dont get is how the car got so far out of control. Could not have been cruise as you were overriding it by accelerating, Modded or not @ 105 km/h, slight acceleration, there should have not been such a sudden and massive increase of power to the rear wheels, to cause this.

Having had some massive crashes and subsequent injuries, I feel for you and your wife, I just do not understand how this could happen with the information provided, and the subsequent post of cruise in the wet.

Scotty, not sure what your current status is with your T, but this is far from the first time this has happened to a member. We have had many discussions on these points, and previously I had a theory about modded auto's, however with it now happening to manuals as well, that theory does'nt hold as strong as first thought.

There are a number of variations in tunes and in particular the auto's seem to kick out alot more with alot less persuation.

If Daniel descibed that this is how it happened I fully believe this is how it occured. As I stated I'm not sure of your cars status, however having had a very agressive T myself as well as driving numerous others including Geea's the T's tend not to be overley forgiving for some reason once modded. There seems to be a point where the power combined with tyres and suspension just give way, and 100% of the time this has been at a higher speed (eg 100km/h - freeways ) and in the wet rather than belting off at the lights.

The only way I describe this feeling is to experience it yourself.

Mate I hope to never to never experience it, especially with family aboard. It would sound to me that it was a matter of either a slippery patch or that the auto kicked back and control was lost.

I feel for the guy I really do, I lost almost three years of my life to a car accident.

I cannot though understand how TC could cause this. T

This will be my last post on this mater as to me the only really important thing about this thread is that they are OK, and I wish them both a speedy recovery.

Very sympathetic to you and your missus mate. I know the feelings you experienced during your wild ride. The very first thing I did/said, after ascertaining that Therese was OK, was to keep apologising to her for the harm I could have brought on her. No worse feeling in the world than knowing you could have seriously caused harm to someone else.

I wasn't there of course so cannot offer much by way of explanation as to how it occurred - you're in the best position to work that out.

However I will offer this - I never use cruise control in the wet. I feel that it impedes the natural balance of the car when changing direction as it can cause the weight of the vehicle to be shifted at just the wrong moment. I'm not saying that I think this was the cause in your case. Just something for you to keep in mind in the future.

I'm of the opinion that you were either just unlucky enough to hit an oily patch right at that popint OR more likely it was the white painted lines that caused the rear to begin a slide ... I've seen this many times especially with two-wheelers.

Anyhow mate I wish you both a speedy and complete recovery and a prompt replacement from your insurers.

Very glad you both are ok bar some minor injuries... they can always heal... and that car is completely stuffed.

Also good to see people stop at the scene of the accident to assist...
