I have noticed that my 6 speed manual has been feeling "notchy" from 1st to 2nd and probably going into 3rd as well. The gears don't grind at all however just feeling tight. Probably started quite a few months ago, the car has now done 30k...would of expected this during the first 10k however what would cause this....should I talk to ford about it ? or be happy with a tight shift !

I treat my grear box with respect, no mods. (at this stage)

cheers

Same problem, same result. In fact I couldn't honestly say that I noticed any real difference between the original fluid and the Transmax Z. At least it didn't get worse !!!

Cheers

The Transmax Z will make a difference - it does take a couple thousand km before you notice it. At least that is what happened when I changed to Transmax Z in my TR3650.

You can only try it - nothing to lose except a few beer tokens.

Sounds like you have had the same problem as me, I took it to ford and they decided that it was the sycros. They took the gearbox out and sent it off to get fixed they had to replace the sycros in 2nd and 3rd, and they replaced 3rd because it was ground down a bit. But I have got the car back and it seems as though the problem is still there, I called ford and he said to see if its goes away after 500kms and then to come and see him. By the way all this work was covered by waranty.

You should take your car in and get them to drive it.
