The engine for the V6 VE is an upgrade of Global Engine from the VZ with a small increase in kws. Apparently, it offsets that additional weight of the equipment so performance changes for the V6 models are nominal (all the performance gains are in the V8 models or those with the new tranny's)....

Which is a phat lot of good if you happen to be the rep driving the Omega somewhere at the back of Bourke with the carryover 4 speed auto, no std airconditioning and a spacesaver spare (but apparently there's room for a full size spare as an option!)...

The SS/Calais interiors may look horn but if you end up driving the SV6/SV8 you'll be in the same interior as the Exec/Omega with some nice fabric seats if the VZ was anything to go by... like the single CD player and the Simpson Autowasher HVAC controls (hopefully they are better this time!)

Normal T, XR8 and GT/GT-P owners should be worried as the new SS does 0-100 in just 5.4 seconds and kills them all. It will sh*t all over us. And it handles well too. The only one who standard a chance is the Typhoon, and even that will be very close.

I think some of the HSV's will be a challenge to many of those running 8 and 10 PSI tunes....

These times are what Expensive Daewoo claim. Let's just remember that the first time the 6L VZ SS was released, Motor pulled some great times, too. Seemed that the first model released to the media pulled awesome times... that were NEVER to be seen again (this goes for the R8 as well).

Now, only a cynic would suggest that there's some dodgy dealings going on here, but I'll wait a little while before I sell my Phoon and buy an SS.

Listen to the wording, big advances over VZ they say, we already knew that the BA BF kicked the Dores ass for handling, so now we have a contender,

comments made about the fact that after a fair belting on the track that they dont chew up tyres like they did, for a Billion big ones I should hope not,

structrual ridgity improved to the point where they claim that the VE is THE most structually ridgid mass produced car in the world, their words not mine,

and the price to pay for all this??

Air conditioning a $2000 option on Omega, and a real spare will cost you anything from 200 to 600 dollars extra.

Outcome is, like its already been said, better cars all round.

And if your worried about getting your ass kicked on the street, get over it!
