Any of the big name ful synthetics will do.

I have a XR6T BA MKII auto. I am now using Mobil 1 Syn 5W-50. (Changed it at 20,000km) Is this ok for the car (engine/turbo etc...) as the book states 15W-40. Will I void the warranty?

I don't drive the car hard all the time... I'd say about 15% of my driving is what I call hard driving.

I see people here are using 0W-40, 10W-60 where as I'm using 5W-50. I'd though I'd be in the middle!

What do you think guys?

I personally wouldn't use anything less than a minimum 10W oil in Qld if that is where you are. It may be okay in winter to go down but summertime, stick with the 10W.

Ask Goldie.

I'm in Canberra using Castrol Edge 0W-40. Ford even put it in for me, no issues. That said, CBR is faaarkin cold at the mo'.

I can appreciate that the 0W part of the rating = a 'thin' (or low viscosity) oil when cold, and the -40 = the thickness, or viscosity at operating temp due to all the modifiers, but what's too thick?? 60 seems a tad high?

I'm seriously looking at some of that Royal Purple stuff in the future (if I switch away from Edge). They make a 15W-40 full synth, exactly what the handbook says to use (the rating that is, not the type - not using any bloody mineral here!).

Unless I got Royal, I think I'll stick with Castrol Edge 0W-40 though.

used magnatec changed every 4 - 5000kms for first 18,000 (including 1st change at 1500 then 5000. now onto 10w60. Didn't notice any change what so ever between oils. Magnetec seemed to discolour slightly quicker...but hard to say?

Magnatec changed every 7500km

Same here.

It's cheap enough and is Ford spec to change every 7500 klms and Its a must to change the oil and filter at least every 7500 klm.
