okkk,

again, as most know my beast is off the road getting fixed for a little run in with a few trees and a gully.

Anyways, I went in to see how the work was progressing. and the panel beater has been tops :spoton: anyways, I notice that I have a new rim and new rubber, which is great... and I ask him where my old rim is... he said that the suspension place should still have it.. so I go there, and ask for my rim only to be told that its in the bin and been taken away..

OKKKK, a near perfect rim... a couple of scratches from the accidents, with good rubber.. and they binned it??? BULLsh*t. more like they kept it, or sold it. So, where do I stand?? I wanted to use that rim as a spare. Should I call my insurance company?? technically, aren't all the parts, damaged or not, still mine?? so shouldn't I get to keep the rim?

Made me so angry that they threw it in the bin.. (if that's what they did). It would have served as a great spare!

Does anyone know anything about this kind of thing?? should I have got it back?? or because it was under insurance am I just :kissmy:

Any help would be great!!

The insurance company ownes the rim if a new one has been provided.

From memory the suspension place needs to get permission to dispose of any insured parts.

It would have been nice to get, but it was not your to have.

I'll call insurance tomorrow and find out if they gave permission to dispose of the rim. I understand it was probably not mine... but when you pay $2500 excess, it would be nice to have something to keep!!! It was just dodgy how the guy said it was in the bin... then he went out to check, came back 15 seconds later and said, yep, in the bin... taken away by now!

I read some where that the insured parts can be claimed by the owner (me).. but perhaps that was at a further cost??

I put a set of mags on my old car and said id return for the std rims. Anyway the std rims got "lost" and they eventually gave me $400 cash. The rim will be the insurance company's so dont worry about it too much.

Yeah good point Jimmy, I would follow it up for sure in the chance that you could claim it back. Where can you get those rims anyway......I want some!
