The only downside would be the amount of fuel you'll go through compared to the Focus. The best I've got was 10.5 litres per 100 between River Road (M5 turn on) to Tuggeranong.

Oh and :buttonit:

Did you get this drafting a semi, or did you have a stiff gale blowing from behind the whole way?

Harpoon, I didn't buy my T for it's fuel economy, otherwise I'd be pulling my hair out by now. Make no mistake, the T will guzzle fuel at the same rate as a fat chick scoffing cupcakes. If you are used to your Escape fuel gage chasing the odo you will have good practice already in watching the same in a T. I find 14.5L/100Kms is pretty standard for this car and more around town (A lot more!).

I would never, repeat, never own a little car, I'll give up drinking beer before I start complaining about fuel prices. :oooh:

Hi :fool:

Thanks for the welcome..

Comments about the T on economy... Noted... Must admit... I like your analogy about the scoffing cup cakes :fool: ..

Noted about the small car... The ride can get very hard on highway conditions..

Thanks for the advice.

Hey Harpoon,

Good to see you found this neck of the woods too!

I drive an XR6T and u simply can't fault it for long distance driving, as much as it kills me to say it (as someone who runs an XR5T site) if you are going to need cruise you can't go wrong with big bro.

That said, the XR5T is going to be a cheaper car to run on the freeway... all depends on whether you can survive without cruise. There will be aftermarket solutions to the cruise problem methinks.

You'll be happy with either choice methinks.  :msm:

I really look forward to Motor's final PCOTY rounds which will include the XR6T (auto and manual), F6 Phoon and the XR5T.

Cheers,

Miyagi

Hi Miyagi.

Yes thank for the welcome. :fool:

Really good forum apart from one drip. :msm:

Hmm, it is a difficult choice, especially when the fuel price starts to rocket.

Picking up a new Focus 2.0l CL for my son to use at Uni this weekend, I think I will have a long chat with the my favourite dealer. :msm:

I thnk an XR6 T looks good and considering I have one son finishing uni this year and I should be free of that Uni cost. :fool:

I will find out the lead time for XR6T and XR5T and make a call. :msm:

But in the meantime, I will do my research and pick up from the leraned Forumites. Thanks Guys and Girls.

There are some great looking XR6T's being displayed... The guys and girls really have a labour of love in there vehicles.

Thanks again.

Harpoon.

The drip being yourself I take it.

Such a gracious erudie, witty, thoughtful and gormless retort !

I, sir made no such gibe at anyone person.

In life, I have found that anyone that cannot argue the point resorts to churlish personal attacks.

What a pleasure it is to know you sir !

Such a charmer.

I waste no more time on even talking to you.

And all I did was ask a question.

Hey Harpoon,

I do mostly highway driving. I commute from sydney to taree twice weekly and therefore rack up approx 1500kms a week. I have found that highway fuel economy is not bad but its not the best in the xr6t.

I actually went to the dealer and asked whether it was normal to be using 15-17L/100km on the highway. They basically said that they could do something about it but it will most likely mean the loss of performance. The highway patrol get their xr6t unmarked cars done there and they went back unhappy cause they lost power.

About 3 weeks ago I noticed I was using just under half the tank (65L) from sydney to taree 345km. For some reason the car appears to have improved in fuel efficiency. It was serviced last week and it is running better than ever. Prior to this it was using 3/4 of a tank!!! Hence why I was concerned.

As for colours, mate, I say go the vixen. Mine is vixen with the GT stripe and could easily be mistaken for an unmarked vehicle along these parts of the highway. I find as long as you're doing the right thing you won't get hassled at all. As for standing out...it's a turbo, flaunt it!!!

Cruise control is something I use on a daily basis, I really wouldn't like to go without it. When cruising it lets you take your foot off the throttle and hover over the brake, this reduces your breaking distance.

Oh yeah, Bionic XR6, I've been driving well over 100 Kph "death" limit for a good three years now and I'm not dead. But I suppose If I were a traffic speciallist, I would be
