what window tints are people using?

I dont care about the metal crap effecting radio reception.

I think 35% is the darkest legal tint.

has anyone been put off the road for being too dark.

I dont mean in an old cortina but in a new car?

Is it the lower the numbers(18%) the darker the tint?

- got my tinting done by bob the window tinter (sydney), great job. 20% tint.

- mine isnt the metallic stuff.

- think your right.

- pulled up next to countless cop cars with my illegal tint, never been bothered.

- 04 xr6 turbo driving 50000kms a year in sydney traffic.

- I think your right again.

-ive got 18% all round, perfect compromise between darkest legal (pfft what darkness) and limo tint (too dark IMO for night)

if your in perth I got a guy who does all our cars that will do it cheaply

- 35 is darkest legal, lower = darker

- if you fail the attitude test you will get canaried no matter what - a mate of mine had a perfect HQ Monaro, couldnt be failed for anything but he was a smartass and got a sticker for no water in the windshield washer reservoir.

In canberra I have very dark tint on my 84 Honda Accord (18% tint over factory aircon tint). I have pulled up next to many a police car and nothing.

The only time where it may become an issue for me is when I transfer the car into someone else's name and it needs to go over the pitts, then it won't pass rego. But seeing I am giving it to my sister when my BF XR6T arrives in 2 months, I will just keep the car in my name.

I will no doubt get the same darkness of tint on my white XR6T when it arrives.... should look hot!

talked to a policemen friend of mine, he said he wouldn't even bother looking unless he'd pulled them up for something else and was checking out the car. when I told him mine was 20% and showed him, he just chuckled and said it looks good.
