I got a mate of mine who has put a SS induction kit on his XR8 and it does a good job, I just wanted to know if any of you guys or gals got one installed on the XR6T and if it is any good. Open to any ideas regards to CAI

cheers :sleepystuff:

Had one on my T briefly ...... :spoton: IMO and farking expensive to boot.

Do a seaarch on CAIs as there is a mile of stuff even DIY for about $30 which works better than the SS

hey mate,

I have the SS CAI. Works ok, I could notice the difference in sounds when backed off throttle when it was standard. Cheap quality plastic, and it starts to bend with the heat. Here's a pic I took recently.

However, I haven't had any real issues. Sure as hell better then stock. However, if I had my time again, I'd go a custom job!! Would work out cheaper I reckon!

The Typhoon one is the same as an BF XR8 one now apparently. So... should be cheaper, and easier to source through Ford.

I have the Typhoon one on my car - seems to work well, I thought it was more responsive, and makes more noise for the BOV. All very tidy and hidden under the headlight. You wouldnt know it was there.

The Phoon one I bought was about $80 as opposed to SS Inductions $500 odd.

Now - the Phoon one is identical to the BF XR8 Intake - so should be less than $80 - I would pick in the realm of $50 maybe, maybe less?

The APS one is slightly bigger than the Phoon one - but you cant buy it seperately unless you get second hand, and it will be more than the XR8/Phoon one.

The home made jobs (using plastic downpipe or rubber connectors etc) will work just as well - but they are a bit too home made for a $50,000 car in my opinion. Put it this way, a Phoon intake costs less than a tank of gas!
