16/03/06 07:41 AM16/03/06 07:41 AM #11 I've been waiting almost a month for my new diff to arrive under warranty, should arrive any time now. The 80-100 whine is annoying because it happens at typical motorway speeds around town where you're stuck on cruise control. The LSD is great, awesome traction, just poor QC.
16/03/06 08:24 AM16/03/06 08:24 AM #12 I have a strange whinning noise coming from the rear.It only happens between 90 & 100 kms. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>You dont have kids do you?
16/03/06 08:34 AM16/03/06 08:34 AM #13 I dont know why you would want to put up with it. You paid for the car and you have warranty for issues such as diff whine. You take it back ot them and you say "best you fix the whine and when I get it back I dont want any other sounds or clunks cumming out of the diff because im just gona bring it back straight away and your gona have to fix it again" You make them aware that you do not want to be stuffed around and they are more likely to do it properly first time around. I just think as a paying customer you should take advantage of the warranty before it runs out then after that you have to pay out of your own pocket and that is the worst when you pay for it and it ends up being worse than when you took it in.Get it checked out and fixed, you didnt pay for a brand new car to have clunks and whines. My 2 cents!Nesh<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yes I agree, make ford fix it. If I wanted whinning & clunking I would of kept my ESP back in 85.Oh, thanks for the replies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I Had the same problem with my Au 3. Ford did the bearings and it was still there, they ended up putting in a new driveshaft that stopped it, apparently it reduced diff noise, It went away completely, hopefully its still going well for the person who bought it off me Was at 90-100kmh as well. 16/03/06 08:35 PM16/03/06 08:35 PM #14 It's not that simple Nesh. There isn't any changes to the diffs that can be made to stop the whine. Unfortunealty it's the luck of the draw.I had one diff replaced because of whine at 100km/h.My new diff whines at about 73 and 93, I could care less because I never sit on those speeds. If the orginal didn't do it at 100 I wouldn't have bothered getting it replaced.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It may not be as easy as I say but its sure not fair having to deal wiht a noisy diff when you dont have to and you shouldnt have to. People pay big money for new cars for the reason that they are new and should have no problems, we all know no matter what car you buy that's brand new there will most likely be problems whether they are big or small but I just think that you pay for a brand new car and that's what you should get, and that's why the warranty is there for. Nesh<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Are you new to this game? After you get to the third diff and are sick of the amount of time it's spending off the road you'll soon learn to deal with it.
20/03/06 02:35 AM20/03/06 02:35 AM #15 I have just noticed a little whine (not children) at about 80-85, and it stops when take foot off accelerator. Is it worth taking in for a first fix, ie change gears or add some diff lubricant? I've heard works well ?? Maybe I 'll just tell them do whatever you have to, but dont replace the diff (based on the risk that I might get one that's worse?) Thanks in advance
